IdeaPlace is an initiative of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce to help inventors develop their ideas, explore and define their customers, and look at market space and market categories. During the session, entrepreneurs will discover where the money is, what the competitive advantage is, and who is or should be on the team. This process is an eight-week process which will help the innovators have greater understanding of what the idea is and how can it work.
The McAllen Chamber’s IdeaPlace is part of a larger program offered to foster small businesses and entrepreneurs. The Chamber’s program includes small business counseling, an elevator pitch competition, market analysis, educational seminars, a business plan competition, $50,000 for Innovation Grants, the micro-grant program for micro-entrepreneur’s women and the partnership with STC to create virtual designs and prototypes for inventions.
IdeaPlace has helped more than 100 inventors thanks to the sponsorship of Wells Fargo. Many of our inventors have obtained intellectual protection and distribution channels such as La Plaza Mall, HEB, just to name a few. Seating is limited to eight people, and a reservation is required. The cost is free. IdeaPlace takes place at the McAllen Creative Incubator at 601 North Main.
